Body Image Issues

"I’ve always been hard on my body— but I wish I could feel good about myself again.”

If you’ve been struggling to feel at home in your body, you know that body image is more than vanity. It can affect every aspect of your life—from time with loved ones to showing up at work, school, or social events. Therapy offers a path to rediscovering confidence and cultivating a sense of ease in your own skin.

Disordered Eating

"I go through periods of cutting out certain foods. It does work— but then I break and eat everything in the kitchen.”

Whether it's creating strict rules, feeling anxious about certain foods, or struggling with eating habits that just don't feel right— disordered eating can be exhausting. If thinking about food or body is getting in the way or is creating feelings of guilt and shame— it may be time to get support.

Bulimia Nervosa

“I want to stop doing this, but I can’t stand the feeling of being full."

Bulimia is characterized by a cycle of binge eating followed by compensatory behaviors to prevent weight gain such as self-induced vomiting, excessive exercise, or the misuse of laxatives or diuretics. Binge eating behavior is typically followed by feelings of guilt, shame, and distress; which often leads to compulsive exercise and vomiting.

Anorexia Nervosa

“everyone is telling me that i’m hurting myself— but I don’t think i’m that thin."

Anorexia is characterized by an intense fear of gaining weight and a distorted body image, leading to self-imposed food restriction and (commonly— but not always) weight loss. Following the release of the Anorexia Nervosa Genetics Initiative (ANGI) in 2018, researchers now consider Anorexia to be a “metabo-psychiatric disorder.”

Binge Eating Disorder

“Each day I tell myself I’ll eat normally, but then things get hard, and i binge."

Binge Eating Disorder is characterized by recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food in a set period, often rapidly and to the point of discomfort, accompanied by a sense of lack of control over the eating behavior.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How Much does therapy Cost/do you take insurance?

My individual therapy rate is $250 per session. For concierge family services, please see my family services page.

As a mental health professional committed to providing access to care for people of all backgrounds, sliding scale pricing is also available. Payment is collected via my client portal.

I do not accept insurance, as a result of my commitment to individualized, customized support. Unfortunately, working with insurance companies often limits care, as insurance providers often dictate care.

Clients working with Well Supported are private-pay and are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate under the No Surprises Act. Additionally, I provide all clients with a superbill. Superbills can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits.

Do you work with kids and teens?

I work with anyone motivated to make changes in their life. So, while I love working with kids, not all kids or teens are ready to engage intentionally in the therapeutic process. Please complete the form under “Book a Consultation Call” to set up a consultation. Meeting via telehealth will typically give me a good sense of if we're a fit!

When Can We Start?

I do not have a waitlist and am accepting new clients at this time. Click “Book a Consultation Call” to set some time on my calendar. After that first call, we can begin sessions together as early as the next day.

will therapy be awkward?

Anxieties, worries, and habits around food and body are what I talk about all day long. While it might feel awkward to talk about these things, rest easy knowing there’s nothing “TMI,” or that will be “too much” for me to hear.

How does therapy work?

If you have been feeling stressed or anxious — we’ll explore which habits or thoughts patterns might be contributing to that experience. We’ll also practice coping skills for navigating tough moments and talk through lifestyle changes you can implement to improve your brain health.

After our initial intake session, we can see each other weekly or every-other week.

I may also occasionally assign homework for you to complete outside of session hours. Throughout our relationship, we’ll assess the benefit you’re receiving from these sessions. We’ll evaluate what’s working, what’s not, and go from there.
